Sands In Time Episode 25: Ancap Opinions

Anarcho-Capitalists, voluntarists and libertarians share many similar ideas. These include property rights, a distrust or critique of State power, a belief that aggression is immoral, faith in the individual, the moral right of voluntary decisions, and the responsibility of personal accountability. Still, within the group we often have several different opinions on just about every topic under the sun. In this episode, Joshua covers a few areas, six in this case, where separate ancaps might have different thoughts and responses to various components of culture and politics while also tackling some long held statist beliefs.

Sands In Time Episode 23: Knowledge and Intellectual Property

Aswain, like any true anarcho-capitalist country, doesn’t have copyrights or patents. Why? Because knowledge isn’t a scarce resource in intellectual property is a form of tyranny maintained by force. In this episode, Joshua takes a little time to explain each term and gives examples of life in a world without IP.

Sands In Time Episode 6: Pop the Bubble or Support the State?

The State has had a lot of supporters for far too long. Why is that? In this episode, Joshua Sands gives his reasons. Ideally, it would be great if disillusioned supporters would pop the statist bubbles they live in when they see the innate illegitimacy of the State, however, many simply stay where they are, waiting for ‘their’ team to take back power so they can dominate others. They continue to view the State as their parent, their god, their master.

Anarchism and Rand

Us libertarians, anarchists, dare I say, radicals, continue on to show the world the UNnecessary evils of the State.

Here’s an interesting article I came across today which coincides with several of my recent podcasts. It’s a letter from an anarcho-capitalist that critiques Ayn Rand who was, in this regard, a minarchist. Good read! Here’s an excerpt and then the entire article from 1969 by Roy A. Childs, Jr:

“And there is the major issue of the destructiveness of the state itself. No one can evade the fact that, historically, the state is a blood-thirsty monster, which has been responsible for more violence, bloodshed and hatred than any other institution known to man. Your approach to the matter is not yet radical, not yet fundamental: it is the existence of the state itself which must be challenged by the new radicals. It must be understood that the state is an unnecessary evil, that it regularly initiates force, and in fact attempts to gain what must rationally be called a monopoly of crime in a given territory. Hence, government is little more, and has never been more, than a gang of professional criminals. If, then, government has been the most tangible cause of most of man’s inhumanity to man, let us, as Morris Tannehill has said, “identify it for what it is instead of attempting to clean it up, thus helping the statists to keep it by preventing the idea that government is inherently evil from becoming known…. The ‘sacred cow’ regard for government (which most people have) must be broken! That instrument of sophisticated savagery has no redeeming qualities. The free market does; let’s redeem it by identifying its greatest enemy – the idea of government (and its ramifications).”

Sands In Time Episode 5: Is Freedom Natural?

I bet most everyone will agree that freedom is a good thing. We like it and we promote it. Still though, one can wonder, is it natural? Joshua Sands thinks it is and explains part of his reasoning. What do you think?

Sands In Time Episode 4: The Dark Union

Much to his dismay and discomfort, in this episode Joshua channels the thoughts and desires of one of the Global Union, Tehlasrin’s sinister controllers. The recording gives us a glimpse into the minds of the authoritarian monsters who dreamt of ruling, dominating and controlling all aspects of the world.
